Roleplaying a love affair

I’ve always been creating stories, since before I could write. My mother loved comics and I started making comics at a very young age.

But my love affair with roleplaying games and stories began when I was twelve.

One of my friends had gotten D&D (the red box set) from his big brother who had been in the US and he wanted me to be the GM, “’cause you always do comics.” I was a little surprised, but happy to get the chance to make adventures (much later I came to realize that it was because my friend, and the others we played with, all wanted to make characters and didn’t care about the adventure, they just wanted to kill monsters and take their stuff).

It was love at first sight for me. The next many years I played weekly, sometimes daily in the holidays, and as others came and went from our group, I never let go.

Much later, when I was in gymnasium (that's High School to you Americans), I met a guy from France and we agreed to make our own little student exchange. I taught him Danish, and he taught me about all the fantastic games they had in France.

I lived a year in France, learned the language and bought so many RPG books that I had to take the train home due to the weight of my luggage (72 kg, at least half of which was books).

Back in Denmark I had to start at the university in Copenhagen, far from my regular group of friends, so I located an RPG club and brought all my French games, hastily translated into Danish.

When I started working as a teacher I got the chance to create a subject based around pen&paper RPGs, giving me a chance to pass on the love of social story-telling to the next generation.

Garden of Athena

Garden of Athena was hatched during a summer of boredom. With my friends all on summer holidays, and home alone with only an i-mac, no internet connection, and a metric ton of history books I had no choice. I had to write a science fiction setting with ancient Greeks fighting WWI trenchers, medieval knights, and cold war Zulus… in space.

And then in the end it got turned down by the first company I presented it to because it lacked zombies!

Luckily zombies were not a requirement for Savage Mojo
